Random with Leslie: Episode 3

Holla! 3 days in a row 🙂

I’m well on my way to creating a habit, right? Right?!

So, did you doubt my randomness? Do you believe me now? It’s gonna get worse, or better maybe. I feel inspired, I want to share…and here we are. Convenient? Coincidence? I think not.

Alright, let’s dive right in.

Mindful Walking

I know I laughed about seeing your breath and being cold, but this is a real thing. We should strive to live more in the ‘present’.

Each step we take can lead us to becoming more mindful of ourselves and our feelings. Walking slows us down enough not only to pay attention to where we are in our body, but also to our breath. Taking time to simply notice our breath while we walk, through the length of our inhales and exhales, and becoming attuned to the way in which we breathe is taking a step towards mindfulness. When we become more mindful, we gradually increase our awareness of the environment around us and start to recognize that the normal flow of our thoughts and feelings are not always related to where we are in the present moment. Gradually we realize that the connection we have with the earth and the ground beneath our feet is all that is. By walking and practicing breathing mindfully we gain a sense of calm and tranquility — the problems and troubles of the day slowly fade away because we are in the ‘now’.

Lab Grown Meat

Have you heard about lab grown meat? It’s real y’all. I first heard about it actually from the investor side and learned that both Bill Gates and Richard Branson had invested in it. Um, those are some pretty big names – tell me more. It’s Memphis Meats.

“The world loves to eat meat, and it is core to many of our cultures and traditions,” said Memphis Meats co-founder and CEO Uma Valeti in a press release. “Meat demand is growing rapidly around the world. We want the world to keep eating what it loves. However, the way conventional meat is produced today creates challenges for the environment, animal welfare and human health.”

With stem-cell controversy, it just seems odd that this would be the solution. If y’all are concerned about the environment – the easy answer would be to go Vegan and I’ll have a piece of that $22 million that was raised – I mean how many people could we feed for that amount of money too, but I digress.

You know we love music of all kinds and concerts are always fun. I love getting my TicketMaster and LiveNation e-mails to see what’s going on.

  • Kesha/Macklemore
  • Eagles
  • Pop Evil
  • Foreigner
  • Weezer/Pixies

That list seems really random, but I honestly would not be surprised if it’s based on some setting of mine – my playlist and selections y’all – it would shock you. Perhaps another time 🙂

I love when my order is on the way – the best part about December! Anyone else here addicted to photo books and memories 🙂 Get those pictures off your phone somehow guys!
